AIR OF CHERNOBYL AND PRIPYAT - CANNED
souvenirs from Chornobyl Zone
The air of Polessky region (the future Exclusion Zone) was clean and pure long before the Chornobyl accident. For thousand years the situation was constant, but after the Soviet Union came to authority the land was expected to change. The former age-old forests turned to the fields with irrigation canals, villages became a concrete town, and on the sandy shore of the Pripyat river the giant ChNPP arose.
In 1986 humanity made a fatal mistake that caused great radiation contamination of these territories. Having lost these lands, unable to use them in the usual way, people abandoned the Zone. No one believed, but in the absence of man, the Nature was able to recover almost to its original state. And then clean air returned to the Chernobyl region. It has become different due to radiation exposure. However, it is healthier than the air of any village or town where the humanity lives.
We canned the air from different locations of the Chernobyl zone and created a souvenir – reminder of the events that symbolize the victory of Nature.
CHORNOBYL AIR
The smell of an ancient city, first mentioned in 1193, in which there is still a regime life of the Chernobyl zone workers. There are business hotels and canteens. But at night boars and moose run through the streets.
